Patches has always given me 100% and has been a joy to handle. She is one of the most honest dogs I have ever dealt with: if there is a problem, 99.9% of the time, it is my fault.
I have been extremely fortunate to have Betty and Patches in my life. Patches just turned 8 so this will be her last year of rigorous competition. But I fully expect her to come out and play in the Veterans and Preferred Divisions!
BETTY BROOKS TESTIMONIAL
I would like to tell you a little story of a great match between Patches and Kristi. Patches is a black tri Aussie that came to us from Jean Mitchell of Indian Run Australian Shepherds. When Patches turned 4 we were at a show in Pomona, CA and I got very ill. Kristi offered to run Patches for me. That made the match made in heaven. I had never gotten a first place in agility and Kristi took Patches to 4 in their first show. From then on, Kristi trained Patches and it was amazing to watch Patches become the wonderful agility dog she still is today. They also did a lot of stockdog training together for a bonding time that is still going on today.
I can tell you we were very lucky to have found Kristi and to take advantage of all the training and know how. Patches just turned 8 so we are looking at a slowing down time but I don’t think Patches has been told that yet. She can still get her Double Q’s and placement ribbons so who knows how much more they can do together? Right now, Patches is tied for 1 st place in Elite Jumpers in the 2004 ASCA standings so I guess she is aging gracefully.
I also have been lucky enough to have Patches’ half-brother Finn (see Finn’s page on this website) from Kristi’s breeding of her Kali to Kathy Warren’s Fred. Finn has a great future in front of him. He was the top 24” Novice B in USASA in 2002 and in the Top 10 Jumpers as well. I can say without a doubt, that without Kristi’s training of Patches and the breeding of Finn, we would have a totally different life. Both dogs are amazing and we are all better off for the great breeding and training that Kristi gives. If you have any questions, you can reach me at bbandog@cox.net and I’ll try to answer any questions you have.
Sincerely,
Betty Brooks, Patches and Finn
